LED up lights along the stainless steel canopy’s perimeter gradually dim, mimicking the moon moving across the face of the sun. The 20-minute cycles begin with all lights on. Then, they fade from east to west over three minutes before pausing for two – leaving the area in complete darkness (a full eclipse). Slowly, the lights fade back up to brightness. The shifts in the shadows and inter-reflections from polished surfaces gently animate both park and users.
Magna – acdc’s in-ground fitting¬¬ – was the ideal product for this project. The luminaire’s 5,000k narrow beam follows the canopy structure’s architectural rhythm. Positioned alongside the cast iron columns, even the privacy of neighbouring residents is protected.
The outcome? A zone that’s as alluring at night as it is functional during the day.
